Digital PR: Explained
…..although at the end of the day, that remains an impossible task, I’m going to try to give an explanation and discussion of what digital public relations really is.
I’ll do this by giving a list of a few services offered by a digital public relations company.
1. Blogging
A digital public relations company will set up, post on, regularly update, and gain readers for corporate blogs. Like the page you are actually reading now, a blog is a diary of an individual, a group, or a company. The blog can be written by an employee of the company, a manager, even the CEO. Some blogs are written by the digital public relations firm that created them, some are written by employees hired distinctly to write blogs.
A blog is a great way to build a casual link of communication between the company, it’s employees, and it’s public.
2. Digital Press Releases
With so many news websites, blogs, facebook pages etc, so many outlets for news on the internet, a new form of press release is required; Not because digital public relations discounts the PR practices that came before it, but because it is a new medium. in a world of twittrs, myspace bulletins and reporters who are asking for their information in a myriad of different ways, it is important to keep a firm hold of the practices that public relations and media relations were built on while taking your message to the media in a way built for the digital era.
3. Online Advertising/Marketing Campaigns
A digital public relations company can envision, create, and launch an online advertising campaign targeted not simply at the traditional consumers and audiences, but at particular groups absorbing and consuming the media on the internet.
This can be anything from viral marketing to more traditional filmed advertisements streaming from Youtube.
